  • Overview

    The Engineering Design Manager- Software Development, is responsible for managing Engineers and technical staff who are responsible for identification, evaluation, and execution of new technology; and design and sustaining engineering of the Company’s products.

    Responsibilities

    • Assure efficient and effective design activity by leading and supervising staff and project teams. 
    • Assure efficient and effective support of existing product by supervising staff and representing the department in support activities. 
    • Assure proper documentation and technical regulatory compliance by leading and supervising staff. 
    • Assure a team effort by promoting cooperation, creativity, teamwork, good communication, and worker satisfaction. 
    • Contribute to budget performance by identifying and controlling expenses.
    • Contribute to the advancement of product designs and awareness of recent innovations by development of self and subordinate personnel in the study of competitive product and customer practices, continuing education, participation in professional organization(s), and by developing and maintaining a professional network outside the company.
    • Provides for an environment of self-sustaining, continuous improvement consistent with corporate objectives by driving improvements in throughput times and eliminating waste in a manner that is measurable and provides value to the product and/or service that is delivered.
    • Provide for overall operational effectiveness by carefully monitoring items, such as employee safety, training, and development; maintaining sound controls; performing timely departmental meetings and contributing to the accomplishment of team objectives through timely completion of assigned objectives and establishing and monitoring of subordinate objectives.
    • Accomplishes staff results by hiring, communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results to ensure department goals are met, and promoting employee personal growth and development.

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively in oral, written, and graphical form.
    • Demonstrates ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a multidisciplinary team environment.
    • Demonstrates ability to manage engineering and technical personnel. Demonstrates ability to provide engineering solutions to a variety of problems - skilled to apply and fully use standard engineering principles, concepts, and techniques.
    • Successful candidates typically possess over 10 years of relevant professional or technical engineering experience, of increasing responsibility and difficulty of assignments.
    • Technical competence and theoretical knowledge equivalent to a standard curriculum of accredited BS degree in Engineering with over 10 years of progressive experience is preferred.
