  • Overview

    This position is responsible for providing superior technical, business and customer experience solutions delivered through embedded software development, user interface design, and customer facing web connected products & services.


    • Develops and executes a strategic portfolio of software solutions through embedded firmware, software development, user interface design, web development, as well as data analytics and services that provide a superior and differentiated customer experience
    • Utilizes customer-driven design methodologies to drive innovation and to determine the appropriate technology path that optimizes value, quality and cost parameters
    • Assures embedded software development achieves customer value and quality goals in a timely manner. Provides oversight over software architecture design and development methodology to assure robustness and extensibility of software platform to support future capabilities.
    • Works with external customers as well as internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop business models that deliver software solutions and services. Responsible for robustness and financial viability of business models as well as overall user experience.
    • Develops and maintains a 3 year technology and software roadmap, with planned releases, coordinated with other product development roadmaps. Collaborates with leaders at all levels within the company to assure alignment.
    • Keeps current with emerging technologies and software development methodologies; assures leadership and staff have the necessary talent and skills to perform at a high level


    • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant disciplines, along with a minimum of 10 years of experience in software development
    • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in developing connected products and services utilizing embedded firmware, IoT (Internet of Things) and web connected solutions
    • Superior systems/process design capability. Demonstrated ability to develop cross-functional business models to deliver software solutions and services to customer.
    • Comprehensive business & technical knowledge of firmware, software, and web development principles and design methodologies
    • Ability to create/manage a vision and think strategically, plan and organize, innovate, analyze complex data and situations, and exercise sound judgment. Must also have the ability to communicate that vision, motivate and lead employees, and collaborate with other teams.
    • Ability to clearly assess, articulate, and manage risk with a sense of urgency to meet product requirements, on schedule, and on budget. Must also have the ability to see the big picture, prepare contingency plans, and ensure execution of plans through effective organizational awareness.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in oral, written, and graphical form.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Business Management degree
    • Software communications architecture experience
    • Embedded software development experience
    • Data management and analytics experience
    • Principal architect experience
    • Graphical user interface design and usability experience
    • Experience utilizing customer-driven design methodologies
    • Experience with medical devices & standards
