  • Overview

    This position develops and manages programs to ensure material availability and delivery with leadership responsibility over the Warehouse, Shipping, and Production Planning functions. Key areas of responsibility include planning, budgeting, resource management, and continuous improvement.


    • Sets and communicates department vision, strategy, and tactics for warehousing, shipping, and planning operations to achieve business objectives.
    • Establishes departmental goals and objectives to support various production areas and accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results to ensure department goals are met, and supports each subordinate’s personal growth and development.
    • Works closely with the appropriate forecasting personnel to convert marketing/sales forecasts into achievable production plans that meet the company’s targeted lead-time objectives. These activities are accomplished through the effective use of sound MRP and capacity planning techniques and require constant interaction with the Manufacturing managers to ensure delivery objectives can be met.
    • Leverages cross-functional relationships to improve organizational efficiency and optimize business and financial results.
    • Proactively lead the materials team to continuously improve processes and procedures, directs the department’s safety program, and ensures communication of safety policies.


    • Generally requires a degree in Business Administration, Materials Management, or other related discipline along with at least five years of experience in a similar role. An equivalent combination of coursework and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
    • Direct experience successfully managing multi-functional teams and operations.
    • Must possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and to recommend opportunities for improvement.
    • Knowledge of MRP, Capacity Planning and Enterprise Resource Planning systems.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
