    A-dec is looking for an experienced Supervisor to join our Sustaining Manufacturing Engineering team. This technical leader will play a critical role overseeing Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians responsible for supporting new product/process development and improving existing production processes for all machining, finishing and assembly operations.  In this position, you will support manufacturing in the implementation of strategic initiatives that ensure A-dec products and services provide a superior customer experience and are the preferred dental solution worldwide. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of operational excellence and passion for developing technical teams, leading cross-functional projects, implementing new products, improving manufacturing processes and inspiring collaboration throughout the organization. A deep sense of responsibility and drive to ensure quality, cost and delivery goals are achieved is essential. If working together for the betterment of dentistry interests you, come join our team. 

    Responsibilities

    • Accomplishes objectives through team by clearly defining roles/responsibilities, communicating expectations, monitoring progress and appraising results to ensure department goals are met or exceeded.
    • Works with team to support process development and maintenance activities for machining, finishing and assembly operations.
    • Contributes to the achievement of department and cross-departmental goals/projects in quality, safety, on-time delivery and cost efficiency by analyzing and improving production workflow, methods, and controls.
    • Provides adequate resources to support production, new product introduction and other manufacturing projects, including direct support, while assuring that personal and direct reports’ work assignments are carried out in a complete and timely manner.
    • Develops and implements performance measurements for key internal processes to ensure production goals are met or exceeded using Lean tools and continuous improvement practices.
    • Ensures project and/or process control documentation is compliant with regulatory requirements.
    • Remains current with new technology or areas of expertise and identifies training needs for all direct reports, promoting each direct report’s personal development for job enrichment and growth.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience, along with 5 years of relevant technical leadership or project management expertise.
    • Demonstrated leadership ability, including supervision or project leadership, as well as the ability to effectively coordinate and lead cross-functional teams.
    • Advance project and time management skills and experience required.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and must possess good organizational skills with the ability to manage time and resources effectively.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • CNC machining, laser etching, sheet metal forming, tube bending, welding, powder coating and/or other part finishing processes experience highly favored.
    • Final product, sub systems, upholstery, hydraulic, pneumatic and/or electronics assembly experience very beneficial.
    • Expert in Lean Manufacturing principals and tools (value stream, kaizen, 6S, 3P, etc.).
    • Adept in Quality Management principles and tools (RCA, DOE, SPC, CAPA, NCM, etc.).
    • Experience with Microsoft AX, Project, Access, Visio, SharePoint and/or Power BI.
    • Project Management Professional, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and/or Lean Certification a plus.
    • Knowledge of ISO 13485/UL/FDA standards for medical device industry helpful.
