  • Overview

    Performs complex accounting duties with a focus on cost accounting; assumes responsibility for the operation of the cost accounting function and the maintenance of the cost accounting portion of the ERP system; participates in corporate metrics reporting.

    Responsibilities

    • Computes and distributes standard labor, machine, tooling and overhead rates; maintains rates and master data in cost accounting system; identifies and recommends areas for cost improvement.
    • Reviews and analyzes journal vouchers, labor and material records and cost reports; reconciles and analyzes specific cost and variance accounts in the general ledger; prepares monthly inventory and variance journal entries.
    • Provides for accurate product costs through analysis of cost standards.
    • Performs a general overview of the manufacturing department’s financial statements; prepares charts and graphs summarizing and analyzing manufacturing data.
    • Researches historical cost data to prepare reports and analysis on such activities as material purchase, labor, equipment, depreciation, repairs, operating expenses, and overhead.
    • Assists with the month-end financial statement close with respect to matters of product costing.
    • Analyzes inventory increases and decreases; assists in the annual physical inventory and interim cycle count audits.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and minimum 2-4 years experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred; a CPA or CMA is desirable.
    • Demonstrates solid knowledge of cost accounting theory and principles.
    • Strong PC skills and established comfort level working with ERP systems.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time and resources effectively.
    • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
